Dedicated Hosting Servers Description
When we speak of hosting servers, there are three principal types - shared website hosting servers, VPS (virtual private web hosting servers) and dedicated hosting servers. Shared web hosting servers accommodate plenty of customers and therefore the resources per web hosting account are limited, virtual private server plans offer more server configuration freedom, but also influence other private virtual web hosting servers on the hardware node if utilized heedlessly, and dedicated servers give you the freedom to do everything you wish without messing with anyone else.
Why would you need a dedicated hosting server?
Dedicated servers are usually much more expensive than shared web servers or private virtual web hosting servers. Why would anyone, then, use them? The answer is pretty simple. If your company has a high-traffic web page, or just has very exact web server architecture requirements, the most appropriate option is a dedicated server. For somebody who is willing to invest in security and reliability, the higher price is not a concern. You receive root-level access and can utilize 100 percent of the server's resources without anyone else sharing these resources and intervening with your websites.
Hardware architectures
The majority of shared hosting firms, including us at STARTEWEB, provide several different hardware configurations you can pick from as per your requirements. The hardware configurations include different types of processors, a different amount of cores, different RAM memory and hard disk sizes and different monthly bandwidth allowances. You can select a Control Panel, which is useful software if you wish to use the web server for hosting purposes only and choose not to resort to a Secure Shell console for all the modifications you will be making. We offer three types of hosting CP software - Hepsia, DirectAdmin and cPanel.
The hosting CP of your preference
If you are a confident Linux OS user (our dedicated hosting servers are running on Linux or other Unix-based Operating Systems), you could manage your dedicated server through a Secure Shell terminal exclusively. That, however, could be awkward, particularly if you choose to grant full root privileges to someone else who has less technical skills than yourself. This is why having hosting CP software activated is a smart idea. The Hepsia Control Panel user interface that we provide does not include full server root access and is mainly appropriate for someone who runs numerous sites that consume plenty of resources, but desires to administer the sites, databases and email boxes via an easy-to-use Control Panel. The DirectAdmin and cPanel web hosting CPs, on the other hand, give you full root privileges and offer three access levels - root, reseller and user. If you intend to resell hosting packages instead of utilizing the web hosting server just for yourself, you should select one of these two.
Web server monitoring and backup services
Last but not least, there is the issue of monitoring the dedicated hosting server and of backing it up. In case of a predicament with your dedicated web hosting server, like an unresponsive Apache or a network outage, it is advisable to have some kind of monitoring system activated. Here at STARTEWEB the system administrators monitor all dedicated servers for ping timeouts, and, if you have a Managed Services package, they monitor the individual services on the dedicated hosting server too. Backups are also a bonus feature - the web hosting distributor offers you data backups on our own backup web servers. You could choose a type of RAID that would allow you to keep the very same data on 2 hard drives as a precaution in case of a server hard drive failure, or in case someone whom you have given full server root access erases something unintentionally.
